FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Who do you work with?
Adults (18+) located in Arizona, Montana or Washington at the time of their visit, who are ready to take an active part in recovering from chronic illness.
What do NMD and ND mean?
NMD stands for Naturopathic Medical Doctor, the title used in Arizona. ND stands for Naturopathic Doctor, the title used for the same credential in Montana and Washington.
Are visits in person or online?
All visits are telemedicine visits by secure video. You must be physically located in Arizona, Montana or Washington during each visit.
What happens on the free discovery call?
It is a 30-minute Zoom call to talk through your goals, your current situation and what is motivating you to improve your health. Together we decide whether working together is a good fit. It is a non-clinical consultation, so no medical advice, diagnosis or treatment is given on the call.
What is environmental medicine?
Environmental medicine looks at how exposures such as heavy metals, mold toxins (mycotoxins) and other environmental toxins contribute to chronic illness, and how to identify and reduce that burden so the body can recover.
My labs are “normal” but I still don’t feel well. Can you help?
Many patients come to Dr. Madeira after hearing exactly that. A root-cause approach looks more broadly, including at environmental exposures, digestion, sleep, stress and nutrition, to understand what may be driving your symptoms.
What is the naturopathic therapeutic order?
It is a framework for care that starts with the least force necessary: first removing obstacles to health, then supporting the body’s natural ability to heal, and adding other therapies only as needed.
How long does recovery take?
Healing from complex chronic illness is not a quick fix. It takes commitment and partnership, and timelines vary from person to person. Your plan is reviewed and adjusted at each follow-up.
Do you see patients outside Arizona, Montana and Washington?
Not at this time. Telemedicine care is limited to adults located in those three states during their visits.
